Josh Gallagher hits No. 1 on CMT Countdown

Josh Gallagher is used to playing for votes.

The Cresson native was a finalist in late 2016 on NBC’s “The Voice.” He has a new music video on CMT as part of the network’s “12 Pack Countdown” this week, and it finished first.

Viewers voted for their favorites, which get into heavy rotation. The video, which premiered Tuesday, can be found on TV during new music hours 9 a.m., 8 p.m. and 1 a.m. daily. It’s also available online at cmt.com/video-clips

Results were revealed on the countdown show at 8 p.m. Fridays.

“How Bout You” was up against some heavy hitters, including Blake Shelton (“I Lived It”), Jason Aldean (“You Make It Easy — Episode 3”) and Tim McGraw and Faith Hill (“The Rest of Our Life”). It’s the story of a man who tries to put up a good front after a bad breakup. He drinks too much, watches TV alone in the middle of the night and wonders who his ex is with.

“I’m a wreck, I’m a mess, got nothin’ left to lose,” Mr. Gallagher sings. “But I lie. Say I’m fine. How ‘bout you?”

“How Bout You” is the Nashville-based singer’s debut single. He wrote it with Will DuVall and Mark Addison Chandler. An album is forthcoming.
